A4119 Talbot Green Traffic Signal Improvements Phase 2

The works are at a busy junction linking the A4119 and B4595, key routes to the M4. Nearby are residential areas, local businesses, a petrol station, a DVSA test centre, and a 24-hour VOSA facility for commercial vehicle inspections.

Background

The required Signal Scheme Improvement works were located at a busy junction of the A4119 Ely Valley Road, which acts as the main commuter road feeding into Junction 34 of the M4. It also connects with the B4595 Talbot Road that serves the community belt of residential housing located adjacent to the M4 corridor.

The junction is extensively used by public transport and is situated near a thriving hub of local amenities and businesses including a busy petrol station, a DVSA driving test centre (for both light and heavy goods vehicles), an active 24 hour operational VOSA testing centre facilitating the inspection of commercial vehicles surveyed and brought to the premises by the police and VOSA themselves after performing random roadside checks along the M4.

M4 Westbound Resurfacing J26 Malpas to J28 Tredegar Park,

The M4 Westbound Resurfacing project between Junction 26 (Malpas) and Junction 28 (Tredegar Park) aims to improve the road surface for smoother driving and enhanced safety.

Background

The M4 Westbound Resurfacing project between Junctions 26 (Malpas) and 28 (Tredegar Park) focused on upgrading the road surface to improve safety and traffic flow. ERH Ltd., in partnership with Centregreat Ltd. and their subcontractor Breedon Group, carried out the essential resurfacing works. To ensure minimal disruption, a full westbound closure was implemented between Junctions 25a and 28, enabling the resurfacing to be completed efficiently and safely.

The project was delivered on behalf of the South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) and involved removing the old surface and applying new materials to extend the lifespan of the carriageway. The works were carefully coordinated to maintain safety for both workers and drivers, providing a smoother driving experience and reducing future maintenance needs on this busy stretch of the M4.

A40 Raglan to Monmouth Resurfacing,

The A40 Raglan to Monmouth resurfacing project involves replacing the old road surface to improve safety and driving conditions, ensuring a smoother and more durable route for motorists.

Background

Following a mini bid competition exercise, ERH Ltd. were awarded this extensive contract scheme, which involved the resurfacing and strengthening of approximately 9.5km of both the east and westbound carriageways between the A40 Raglan Interchange and the Monmouth Tunnels. The project aimed to significantly enhance the road's structural integrity, improve safety, and provide a smoother driving experience for all road users.

To carry out the necessary works, it was crucial to implement a diversionary route of approximately 106 miles, diverting traffic away from the affected area. This diversion allowed for a full road closure along the stretch of the A40 Monmouth to Raglan carriageway, ensuring the safety of both the workers and drivers. The road closure enabled the construction team to carry out the resurfacing and strengthening processes without interruption or risk, while also facilitating the effective management of traffic flows around the project site.
